Job Overview 

Solid Foundation is seeking a lead preschool teacher seeking a career in early childhood education. In this position, you will mentor the program's students and guardians, offering wrap-around care to bridge the gap from school to home. The duties include leading lesson plans, establishing consistent classroom routines, and providing stability through routines and strategic daily planning. 

To be successful in this position, you must be able to contribute to the mental and emotional development of the children in the program in a healthy way. Have a deep desire to advance oneself, students, and staff. The perfect candidate for this position will have the experience and ability to work independently and as a team member. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a fun, safe, and effective approach to delivering the curriculum. Creative freedom is encouraged.

  • Demonstrate various educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media, singing, etc.) daily to teach children.

  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, math equations, crafts projects, etc.)

  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.

  • Track children’s progress and report to the site director and parents using the child screening assessment sheet.

  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional disagreements among the students. 

  • Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.

  • Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and needs to be successful in the classroom. 

  • Collaborate with other educators in the community. 

  • Manage classroom schedule and set time boundaries for self and others in the program.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.

  • Overall classroom management and quality assurance.

  • Safely transport children to the park daily. 

  • 2-hour Continued Education required every two months. 

 

Requirements and Skills

  • Valid State Photo ID. 

  • Central Background Registry (ITIN accepted): Getting your results may take a few weeks.

  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.

  • Knowledgeable about safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures for the Department of Education, Office of Child Care, and Solid Foundation Classroom.

  • Knowledgeable about the Solid Foundation Parent Handbook and procedures. 

  • Excellent communication and instructional skills.

  • Ability to act as a mediator between children.

  • Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable.

  • Ability to create a non-biased and inclusive learning experience.

  • A deep desire to advance professionally and personally.

  • Ability to lift 30+ Pounds.

  • Mobility Ability (bending, dancing, standing for long periods, able to sit or kneel at a preschool eye level)

  • Able to handle bodily fluids in a timely manner. (Change Diapers) 

  • Basic Computer Skills (Typing, Email, Printing, etc.)

  • Self-Motivated.

 

Education Requirements (Must be completed within the first two weeks of being hired.)

  • Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (Self Pace Online Class) 

  • Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety

  • Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect 

  • Sleep Safe Training 

  • Other Education Requirements (Must be completed 30 days after starting in the classroom)

  • Foundations for Learning  (Self-Paced Online Class)

Salary and Time Commitment 

  • Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 3:00 pm (32.5 hours a week)

  • Starting $18 Hourly 

  • $2.00 Bonus Hourly Bonus If Bilingual (Spanish Preferred)
